Senior Private Sector Development Specialist, World Bank Group
Tazeen Hasan is a Senior Private Sector Development Specialist with the World Bank Group’s Women, Business and the Law program where she leads research on women’s financial inclusion. She was the legal specialist for various World Bank Group’s reports including the “World Development Report 2012: Gender Equality and Development” and “Opening Doors: Gender Equality in the Middle East and North Africa” and the IFC’s recent report on “Tackling Childcare: The Business Case for Employer-Supported Childcare.”
She is the coauthor of several World Bank group publications, including “Empowering Women: Legal Rights and Economic Opportunities in Africa” and “Voice and Agency: Empowering Women and Girls for Shared Prosperity.” Previously, she was a barrister in the UK specializing in civil and commercial law, and subsequently worked in Kenya as a legal adviser to NGOs. She obtained a Masters in International Law from the London School of Economics and a BA in Law from the University of Oxford.
