Senior Gender Finance Advisor, FMO

Saskia Vossenberg is FMO’s Senior Gender Finance Advisor. She is spearheading the embedding of a gender lens in FMO’s investment process and building a gender finance investment and capacity development portfolio with financial institutions in emerging markets to empower female entrepreneurs. Saskia developed various projects, partnerships and dialogue initiatives in Africa and The Netherlands that take on an eco-system approach and focus on making finance work for women through improved financial and non-financial services. Saskia brings together insights from gender, entrepreneurship and development economics research that she uses for innovating evidence-based methods and tools for gender finance, including eco-system analysis (the FEMScan), gender smart market research, gender smart due diligence, and partnership models for gender smart non-financial services. Next to her work at FMO she is a researcher affiliated with the Centre for Frugal Innovation in Africa (CFIA) where she is completing her PhD on the impact of inclusive innovations in gender transformative change for female entrepreneurs in emerging markets.
