Managing Director, Microfund for Women
Muna Sukhtian started her career as a management consultant in the US, and returned home to work in her family’s pharmaceutical business. With a passion for social service, she then served as Chief of Staff to Her Majesty Queen Rania. She is currently Managing Director of Microfund for Women (MFW), a non for profit that serves low-income entrepreneurs who are unable to access credit from conventional financial institutions. Today, MFW’s 700 employees serve 140,000 beneficiaries, 97% of them women, through 60 branches across Jordan. The organization has received many regional and international awards.
Recently, Mrs. Sukhtian was named Co-Chair of Women’s World Banking Board of Trustees, Vice Chairman of Sanadcom for Business Finance. She is also a board member at GMS Holdings, Queen Rania Award for Excellence in Education, and Abdulhameed Shoman Foundation.
Muna has recently completed her term on the Washington-based Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP), a global partnership of 34 leading organizations that seek to advance financial inclusion; Queen Raina Teaching Academy; Greater Amman Municipality and The Royal Film Commission-Jordan.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and an MBA from INSEAD. She is married with three boys.
