Senator, Jordanian Senate

Dr. Sawsan Majali has been a member of the Jordanian Senate since September 2016, serving on the Senate committees for Health, Environment and Population; Education; Labor and Development. She previously served as Secretary General of the Higher Population Council, Director for The Queen Zein Al Sharaf Institute for Development (ZENID), and Deputy Executive Director for Strategic Planning at the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development. She has also been a consultant at the Al Riyadah College for Health Sciences, Director of the Nursing Program at Dar Al Hekma College in Saudi Arabia, as well as a professor of nursing at the University of Jordan.

Dr. Majali is a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Center for Human Rights and the National Council for Family Affairs. She is also a member of the WHO Regional Advisory Group on Nursing and Midwifery, Eastern Mediterranean Region, and a previous member of the WHO Global Advisory Group on Nursing and Midwifery, Geneva. Her research interests include women’s health, youth and the elderly, and she has published several articles and supervised masters and doctoral students across her career. Dr. Majali has a Ph.D. in Nursing from the University of Michigan, a MSN in Nursing from the Catholic University of America and a BSc in Nursing from the University of Jordan.
